Field of Interest Funds

These funds support organizations in a general area of charitable interest. A field of interest fund supports organizations in a general area of charitable interest. They include funds that support health, social services, the arts, environment, education or a geographical area. These funds give the foundation grantmaking discretion within the specified area of interest.

Field-of-Interest Funds enable donors to focus their giving on the issue or cause they care about most.

You may contribute to an existing Field-of-Interest Fund or consider starting one of your own, either with a gift now, or a planned gift to ensure your legacy. Donors can entrust the Foundation with the selection of the most needed programs to receive grant funding based on a competitive process.

Its objectives are to improve the health and well-being of Dunn County Residents by supporting direct health care needs, health education, increasing awareness and sharing quality of life opportunities to benefit all citizens. It also seeks non-traditional partnerships and collaborations; and innovative programs that have countywide impact and are replicable in other communities.

Menomonie used to host the popular Drums Along Red Cedar event every year with the proceeds going to fund school music mini-grants. In 2009, this event was discontinued, but its founders, volunteers and supported left a legacy of an endowed fund at the Foundation. This fund allows the board to award unrestricted grants to music programs to the school districts of Dunn County.

Network of bike trails at the Bjornson Environmental site. The 443-acre Bjornson Environmental Site is located on N6945 160th St.  With this vote of approval the trail formation process will begin with logging this fall and a number of trails should be open in the fall of 2015.

The School district has been working along side the Chippewa Valley Off Road Bicycle Association and the Menomonie Area Mountain Bike Association (MAMBA) to develop the trails.  Here at the Community Foundation we are proud to see the project move forward. In August the CFDC awarded a grant to MAMBA help with the purchase of much needed equipment to maintain these trails. Allowing the volunteers to manage the multi-use trail system for people to hike, run, and bike on safely.
