Arbor Place, Inc. received a Community Foundation grant of $6,190 to bring the Mental Health Improvement training to local high school staff to address mental health issues for 12-18 year-olds. Arbor Place staff attended Youth Mental Health First Aide (MHFA) certification training in New Orleans in March of 2017. The training had a ripple effect as the staff then conducted three 8-hour long Youth MHFA courses across Dunn County, including Boyceville on Elk Mound, and Menomonie, training a total of 40 school staff, UW-Stout Students and other interested community members.
In addition, several educational events were offered during the year. Three of these involved local mental health providers detailing the types of services they offer to Dunn County citizens and how to access these services. In addition, Arbor Place, Inc. provided several “rounds” of free seminars on addiction and the family. These 90 minute sessions were open to the public and have received high reviews from participants.
