The word philanthropy comes from a Greek word that means, “love for humanity.† For the week leading up to Valentine’s Day we will be highlighting a story from the community each day.
The Marshall W. Hagen  had a desire to make a difference in his community. After he passed on in early 2010 at the age of 98 the Memorial Fund was established.
The Marshall W. Hagen Memorial Fund was Marshall’s way of ensuring that there would be a permanent source of income in Dunn County to support the programs and services that could directly benefit the lives of people suffering from cancer.
This year the Community Foundation of Dunn County was able, through this fund, to enable a family from Dunn County, with a child suffering from cancer to attend Joshua’s Camp Retreat.
Joshua’s Camp is a 4-5 day retreat provided free of charge to families that have a child being treated for cancer. The children get to participate in camp activities such as games and horseback riding. While the parents get treated to a night out on the town.
