CBJ KIDS TO CAMP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Camp fosters fun and independence while expanding children’s knowledge of diabetes. Make friends who understand what it’s like living with diabetes and create experiences that will last a lifetime!
Cammie B. Johnson was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 10. As a child, Cammie fell in love with summer camp. She attended the American Diabetes Association Camp Sioux first as a camper, then as a kitchen staff and a counselor. She spent many summers making and eating mountains of peanut butter sandwiches, teaching kids about diabetes and how they were not different from anyone else.
Cammie passed away due to complications of diabetes just before her 21st birthday. Camp scholarships are awarded each year in her loving memory so kids living with diabetes can experience camp.
Scholarships are available each year for area youth to attend a diabetes camp of their choice. Scholarships range from $250 to $850 and are paid directly to the camp unless otherwise approved by the Community Foundation of Dunn County, Inc.
Applicants must submit completed application materials to the Community Foundation of Dunn County at least (8) weeks prior to the scheduled camp.
