Health Dunn Right received grant funding from the Foundation for a variety of initiatives. Following are highlights from the work of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Mental Health & Wellness Action Teams:

Chronic Disease Prevention Action Team Initiates Story Book Walk
In May, the Chronic Disease Prevention Action Team worked with the Menomonie Public Library, Mayo Clinic Health System and the City of Menomonie to implement Story Book Walk, a program that allows opportunities for families to read while taking a walk. The City installed permanent structures along the walkway at Lakeside Park that contain digital pages of books displayed for reading. Currently, the book ‘Time to Sleep’ by Denise Fleming is available in the structures.

Jodi Bird, Public Services Manager of the Menomonie Public Library said: “People like the location and are already taking advantage of it. Even a few adults have mentioned reading while walking and have enjoyed the experience.”

Mental Health & Wellness Action Team Creates Online Resource Guide

The Mental Health & Wellness Action Team created and implemented a Dunn County Online Resource Guide for residents seeking help in various mental health and wellness areas. The action team created an online resource that is easy to access and will stay up to date. This online resource guide can be found at https://dunn.myresourceguide.org/resources and includes contact information from an array of services right here in Dunn County, from the Mental Health Crisis Line to the Dunn County Job Center-Workforce Resource Center. This is a one-stop resource shop.
