The Foundation’s community grants are made from our ‘unrestricted’ fund.  Gifts received by the Community Foundation that are not designated for another purpose are placed in the unrestricted endowment (or Community Fund). The earnings from this unrestricted fund are used to make grants to non-profit organizations each year. Unrestricted gifts allow the Foundation’s board of directors the greatest flexibility in meeting community needs today and as our communities change over the years, the needs will also change. This unrestricted fund will allow the Foundation to adapt as society changes.
