Drums Along the Red Cedar Youth Music Camp Scholarship
Application Overview
The Community Foundation of Dunn County is pleased to offer students in Dunn County the opportunity to apply for scholarship funding to help cover tuition for a summer music camp of their choice, up to $500. This scholarship is made possible through the Drums Along the Red Cedar Fund, which is managed by the Community Foundation of Dunn County. The Drums Along the Red Cedar Drum & Bugle Corps Competition began in 2000 as a project of the Menomonie High School Band Booster organization.
The Drums competition ended in 2009, but the proceeds from the event have been put into a Youth Music Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation to provide funding for music scholarships and initiatives in Dunn County. The camp must be licensed and provide specific music instruction. Scholarships are paid directly to the camp unless otherwise approved by the Community Foundation of Dunn County, Inc. Applicants should apply early and request funding to cover their unpaid camp fees, rather than seek reimbursement from the camp for fees that have already been paid. A direct tuition reimbursement may result in income tax liability and is the responsibility of the applicant or parents, as may be applicable.
- Applicants must be students of a middle school or high school in Dunn County.
- Applicants must submit a complete Application Form (found below) and have a current music instructor submit a recommendation form on the student’s behalf by the posted deadline.
- Applicants must upload a copy of their completed camp registration form, including proof of any payments made to date. This may also be mailed if upload is not feasible.
- Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated financial need, as provided on their application.
