The Community Foundation of Dunn County (CFDC) provides an efficient and economical way to carry out multiple charitable goals. There are a variety of fund types that can be established.
- a designated fund can support a specific charity or charities,
- a field of interest fund can be established to support arts and culture, the environment, history, etc.,
- a Donor Advised Fund can be established that allows you to recommend grants to different organizations or causes each year as community needs change.
Gifts can also be made to the Foundation’s unrestricted endowment that allows the Board of Directors to award grants throughout the year. Dunn County will undoubtedly look different 50 years from now, and unrestricted gifts can help ensure that resources will be available as community needs change.
The Community Foundation is a public 501(c)(3) charity and gifts enjoy the maximum tax benefits as allowed by law. Many families find that working with the Community Foundation is more efficient and provides more advantages than creating a private foundation. The Community Foundation handles all of the financial management, investment of assets, grant distribution and record keeping. The fund is also part of Foundation’s annual tax return and is subject to an annual audit. There are no additional records to keep, forms to fill out or reports to file. An administrative fee is charged depending on the type of fund that is established. Assets are pooled and investment management fees are pro-rated based on the size of each fund.
It’s easy and the reward is that your gift can last forever and will benefit the communities of Dunn County for many generations to come – you are ‘paying it forward’ many times by making a charitable gift to your Community Foundation.
